DAVE CROWELL AUTHOR

How I met my Protagonist?

In the early 2000s, I worked at a 7-11. One memorable day, a woman entered, donning an aged yellow dress adorned with pink flowers, complemented by a large, floppy-brimmed hat. Beneath the hat's rim, a sliver of silver foil peeked out. She meandered through the aisles before selecting a burrito.

After heating her burrito in the microwave, she approached the counter for checkout. As I processed her purchase, she laid a five-dollar bill on the counter. I picked it up, counted her change, and extended my hand to give it to her, but she firmly slapped the counter top and shook her head, indicating a no. Respecting her preference, I placed the change on the counter. She picked it up, her laughter filling the space between us.

Later, while disposing of the trash out back, I caught sight of her again. She was spinning joyously in circles near the dumpster. Noticing my presence, she abruptly stopped and darted down the alley, disappearing from view.

This intriguing encounter marked the beginning of the book "Download," with "Margaret Goes to the Store" as its opening chapter, setting the stage for a story as unpredictable as Margaret herself.
